Sports

At Woodcrest Academy, we understand the vital role physical development plays in a child’s overall growth and well-being. Our sports programme is designed to foster fitness, strength, coordination, and teamwork, and includes activities such as swimming, athletics, netball, volleyball and badminton. On Wednesdays, students can play cricket or soccer depending on the season.

On Fridays, we take a fun, dynamic approach to physical education through games, where no lesson is ever the same. These sessions help students positively associate using their bodies for movement rather than spending time on screens. Whether it’s indoor games that they can enjoy at home on a rainy day or outdoor sports designed to toughen them up, learners develop fine and gross motor coordination, fitness, flexibility, and, most importantly, a love for physical activity. Our PE lessons are an exciting highlight of the week, encouraging every child to have fun while being active.

In addition to the school sports programme, the area provides opportunities for learners to participate independently in club-level activities, including squash, golf, horse riding and tennis, depending on their interests. This diverse approach to physical education ensures that all our learners have the chance to engage in activities that promote a healthy lifestyle, build important skills, and encourage a lifelong love of sport.
